New Trophy in the name of Jane Walters

Following the untimely death of Jane Walters in April, RDG wished to have some permanent and relevant tribute to her memory. The committee of the Spelthorne and Runnymede Drama Festival were pleased to accept our offer of a new Trophy for their festival - the Jane Walters Award for Best Director. RDG's Gillian Smithies' husband Brian, a professional sculptor, agreed to design and make the trophy and this was unveiled recently. Cast by the company who cast the BAFTAs, the trophy is a modern take on the two theatre masks, mounted on a wood block.
