Chris Winslet

8 appearances in RDG productions

Chris is often to be seen (and heard) in the band for our musical shows - but every so often he can be tempted on stage, He first trod the boards in 1982 for out festival success Maurice Dancing. Five years later he strutted his stuff in Chicago. He played the long-suffering Mr Ames in our 100th production - Chorus of Disapproval, A. He made a rotund Mr Bumble in Oliver! and a nicely nasty Nicely Nicely Johnson in Guys and Dolls.

We were delighted when in 2010 he agreed to be musical director of All that JazZ - an A - Z of Musicals. The following year he was MD of a superb band for our triumphant 42nd Street. He was responsible for the musical direction of our vibrant productions of Crazy For You and Nine to Five. In 2016 - in addition to being musical director - Chris- along with Diane McGuire - arranged all the songs for The Beggar's Opera. The hugely popular White Christmas was partly as a result of his great skill as musical director, the tenth time Chris has filled this vital role. Music of a very different style and period was a feature of our lively production of Nell Gwynn but once again Chris rose to the occasion with a delightful trio of musicians. His band was at full strength again for our joyful production of Sister Act in 2019. In 2022 Chris was the brilliant musical director for our strong production of Chess - a demanding sung-through musical.
