Clean Sweep at Leatherhead
Our production of James McLure's black comedy Pvt Wars wins the 2016 Leatherhead Festival plus.....
The performance at Leatherhead Drama Festival on 11th May was highly praised by the adjudicator, Paul Fowler so it was no surprise when he announced it as the winning play of the Senior Week. As winners, the production performed again on the Gala Night on Saturday 13th May along with the winning play from the Junior Week. Following this the Awards Ceremony was held when RDG were presented with the Michael Caine 'teetering coach' trophy. This was the second year running RDG have won this trophy - following Judy Dolley's fine production of Primrose Way last year.
In addition, director Mark (Harry) Humble was awarded the Best Director award (senior week) and Josh Smith was given Best Actor, following his Best Actor win at Elmbridge Festival in March.
Both other members of the cast - Troy Chessman and Maxfield Usher were given certificates for their performances under the category 'Special Mentions'
Congratulations to all the team on a fine win. They perform the play again at The Barn Theatre, Oxted on 27th May at the next round in the All-England Theatre Festival.
