The Accrington Pals (2)
by Peter Whelan
The Accrington Pals (2) had 4 performances about 36 years ago (between the 9th of November 1988 and the 12th of November 1988) at Literary Institute Egham
THE ACCRINGTON PALS is one of the few plays we have presented twice. We first presented a potted version at the 1984 Maidenhead Drama Festival and four years later staged the complete play with an entirely different cast as a main production.
THE ACCRINGTON PALS tells the poignant story of a group of men from the Lancashire town who enisted together, fought together - and died together in the First World War. Set against the horrors of trench life is the home life where wives, lovers and families waited......
With its cross-fading through the many scene changes the play was a challenge to present on the miniscule stage at the Egham Literary Institute.
